ANTHONY FLOWERS

Anthony Flowers musical career started at a very early age when he was introduced to the piano. He was performing for many audiences by the age of four. Through the years, he has developed a spectacular, unique singing ability that enables him to coordinate with creative lyric writings and arrangements. Anthony got his start singing in churches and with vocal school choruses and bands. In 1976, he
was voted “Most Talented” Central High School in Seat Pleasant, MD.

During competitions at the Blackburn Center at Howard University, Anthony won both semifinals and the finals. His performance at the Apollo Theatre Amateur Night resulted in a standing ovation. Touring comes naturally for Anthony. He traveled extensively with Phil Flowers, his uncle and well-known Washington, D.C. artist who captured audiences for decades within DC and throughout the United States. He has performed in many clubs, lounges, municipal centers, and several air force bases.

He has also performed in such well-known places as The Kennedy Center, Crampton Auditorium, Washington Convention Center, Carter Baron Amphitheater, Apollo Theater, Washington National Press Club, Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, Stuff (a children’s TV show), NBC Channel 4 Station, and Hilton Head, South Carolina. During these times he had such career highlights as entertaining Senator John Warner and Elizabeth Taylor in 1979 and Dave Clark, Albert Wynn and Linda Cropp in 1994.

During his travels, he has opened for musical and show business greats Whitney Houston, Cissy Houston, The Canton Spirituals, Lena Horne, M-Tume, Tavares, Chris Thomas, Muhammad Ali, Arthur Ashe, Dick Gregory, Sensational Nightingales, Charles Johnson and the Revivals, Chante Pace Rose, Shirley Caesar, Luther Barnes, Rev. C.L. Walker, Minister Keith Pringle, Lou Rawls, the Temptations and Jermaine Jackson, D-Train, Rosa Parks, Colon Powell, Cicely Tyson, Roy Ayres and Major Harris . He has also been associated with such legends as Natalie Cole, Patti Labelle, Luther Vandross, Glen Jones, Starpoint, Isaac Hayes, Jimmy Caster, Robert and Kevin Hooks, Valerie Harper, John Cannon, The O’Jays, Stacy Lattisaw, Chuck Brown and E.U., and Cathy Hughes. Having completed his European tour, Anthony is currently working on his latest gospel CD.

As a recording artist he has sung lyrics written by Starpoint, Phil Flowers, Rev. James N. Flowers Jr. and many of his own songs. Today, Anthony is working with his family and recording artists, The Flowers Family Singers, led by his uncle, Rev. James N. Flowers Jr. whose gospel recordings are playing around the country. With God’s anointing, Anthony is a born again Christian who practices his ministry so that he may bring others in. He enjoys working with many choirs, chorus groups, gospel singers and churches. God has truly blessed Anthony with his musical talents.
